Why do you suppose Darth Vader's helmet is absolutely covered in finger prints and smudges in "A NEW HOPE" and is polished shiny clean thereafter? How was the mess cleaned up? The force? Lemon fresh pledge? How?

Are you serious? You want Vader to polish his helmet? What kind of prevert are you?

Well I suspect the pumps and cape are covered with fingerprints

Well, it would present such a dashing figure, how could a guy resist touching him?

Speaking of dashing figures, go youtube and search "captian picard as a gay guy". Get ready to laugh..."Pink Panthers", HA!HA!HA!

Looks like a wet sanded, unbuffed car fender to me, not seeing the fingerprints.

Looks like a wet sanded, unbuffed car fender to me, not seeing the fingerprints. If you go by that picture alone I would be inclined to agree but after repeated viewings and pauses and examinations I'm forced to draw the inescapable conclusion that the helmet was applied by stage hands, without gloves, moments before the scene was shot. Lucas must have insisted that the helmet be handled with much more care in later films.

I notice that the more Vader polished his helmet, the more mellow he got.

I notice that the more Vader polished his helmet, the more mellow he got. Works for me.
