Funny you say that, as a huge old live oak blew down across the street just a few hours ago......it was a sad thing, but watching the city guys cut it up was a nice distraction from the horrible Bucs game. Ugh. Yeah. I watched most of it. I was visiting my Mom because my brother David was in town. Believe it or not I was actually kind of anxious since I didn't leave her house until after the game started. Then I listened to the broadcast on my way home and d**ned if it turned out to be a total waste of my time. All I can say is rookies can't win against even slightly decent football teams and the Niners are really showing an upward trend toward being really good. At least I got that one football pick correct. :-)

Looks like it was well worth the time and money. Really turned out nice.

My Precision: If we ever start redoing the old Cockpit songs, this'll be the bass I use.

That seems to be a good candidate for the old sound. Of course I can't "hear" a photograph.
There has been some talk recently about getting together to complete Kim's songs with Kyrstie sitting in. I think getting back together will afford us an opportunity to get into the Cockpit songs and get them further along. All of those terrible scratch vocal tracks that I laid down prove to me that I need a better approach to recording vocals in general but I think the instrument recording process is pretty good. I also didn't get very far into drum programing. The tunes still sound very much like a constant beat. Got that drum machine feel where there seems to be no reaction to what the other instruments are doing. That's got to get fixed if we ever think we'll have a chance at a decent recording in the end.

Well, it sounds better than the '83 Precision did, and at least as good as the Hondo/Chandler one. I think the '76 Fender I had was better still, but this one's pretty nice. The saddles on that bridge are from my '83; the height adjustment screws froze up on them, so I bought a replacement set, and put the originals in a jar with an ounce or two of WD-40 and forgot about them for a decade.

After a few months of tweaking and playing this bass, I've come to the conclusion it's the best P-Bass I've ever had. Better than the '76, better than the '78, way better than the '96, better than the Hondo/Chandler hybrid, and tons better than the '83 and '83 Elite (God those two sucked.)
