Being interested in World War II (particularly the Pacific theater) since I was a kid inspired me to pick up HOTP last year. The game was a bit difficult at first but once the physics were mastered it was easy to become immersed in the gameplay and storyline. I had played aircraft simulators before but never on a game console. In the past the only experience I had was what was available on the PC so getting used to the gamepad controls proved to be my biggest obstacle. The game itself is rather impressive. There are the expected tasks and campaigns that include maneuvering about to engage enemy aircraft in dogfights, bombing raids, aircraft carrier takeoff and defense and some nifty work with torpedo bombing. All in all I've really enjoyed HOTP and I've only progressed though about half the game so there's plenty to look forward to.

I have this game. It doesn't do too much, though. It just sits in it's case, but sometimes I spin the disk around for fun, 'cause games are supposed to be fun.

I think I know why your version of the game isn't functioning as well as mine but on further reflection I doubt explaining it to you will do any good.

Ooh, I love that game. I like to putz around in the instant action mode in my little Capt. "Wild Bill" Kelso P-40, and shoot at targets I can't possibly see because of all the blood on the inside of the windscreen, and the oily smoke comming from what's left of the bullet-riddled engine. But like a good little masochist I keep clinbing back into that...oh my, I think I've just had another episode. Well then -it's Riddelin all 'round, and daffodils, and teddy bears for the rest of the day for me! C.N.

I'm glad someone else enjoys HOTP. I've not played since before I posted the original comment. The game system belongs to ProRider but she has been very generous with allowing me access to it. I assume that I still have about half the game to process. The most advanced fighter I've won thus far is the Corsair. I assume there are a variety of planes waiting for me farther in the game. I look forward to flying the Mustang in particular. I ought to stop posting on this site and fire it up.
