Cool. I'll try to show up early as I'll be heading out to the Holiday Inn for more training, and this time I expect to take my car. I wonder what Dave will think when he sees the kit in the living room...... Wow. Two full weeks of training. Must be nice. I got maybe two full days. Lucky dink! ;D

My second week was done with minimal sleep, and my attention divided between learning the job and worrying about/visiting my hospitalized daughter. Yeah, real lucky.

There's a copy of the current I.M. issue on your desk, Tom. Work was okay, James put me in charge of giving out numbers to myself and Oliver, Bridgette, and....Rez? (the guy who sits behind you) while you more important types were working on the real work. Naturally, Oliver contested every decision I made, so I fired him several times, and also threatened to make him walk home. At one point, Ollie was asking James a question, and after trying to explain it to him, James gave up and told me to explain it. I did, several times. Adam apparently isn't as used to our 'discussions' as James is, and wanted James to talk with Ollie in the back room about it, but I prevailed before that became necessary. Chuck couldn't stop laughing through the whole thing. I got about half as much done as I could have, were it not for having to keep the other three busy. The power went out at 3:45, and it was a ghost town by the time I left. So, all in all, it was a normal day. Oh, and Dinette was out, so you missed a chance there.

That's not fair. How is it possible that I missed a day of work that was denet free? Dag rabbit!

So how was the first day of work at EBI, dAN? My first day working from home but still working was pretty good. I have a ton of work to get done so it was a real pleasure to just sit and work without all the distractions and the headaches. Day two was pretty much the same thing. Day three has turned out pretty well though I have to go into work at lunch time and help install an internet Gateway device which will suspend internet access for about an hour or so. That ought to be fun. The hard part will be showing up and trying to keep from blabbing about where I've been for two days. Adam would prefer I kept the whole thing to myself. We'll see.

Day one was fine. Days 2-5 were harder. The boss is hands down the fasted cadd tech ever, and expects me to be that way too. I never thought I was slow before, but now I think I'm a snail. Hopefully I'll speed up in an acceptable time. Also, the signing surveyor is very particular, like Don Hawkins was; overall, it's been uncomfortable so far, but the opportunity for improvement is exciting. If I can learn the stuff I need to, this will be very rewarding.

Sounds like new job anxiety. You are plenty fast. After you've been there a couple of weeks I'm guessing your perceptions will be more in line with reality. I say this because I know for a fact that you are faster than I am and I don't view myself to be any kind of CAD slouch. Eric knows his stuff but it's his stuff he knows. Once you are more familiar with "his stuff" you'll be fine. The first week is always nerve wracking.

I can't believe how much has happened since the last time we posted in this discussion. I was laid off, found a surveying job on the same day, left said surveying job and was brought back to this company. I'm glad after the layoff you found a good job, dAN. I guess it all worked out.
