I suppose it's not surprising that Iron Man (the movie) has performed very well considering the quality of the film from concept to direction to acting etc. What might be a shock is that Iron Man just crossed the $300 mil domestic box office mark. World Wide Iron Man has pulled in over half a billion dollars and the film still hasn't open end in Japan. Of all super hero themed movies only the three Spiderman films have had higher grosses. Let's face it. Iron Man is very well known in comic fan circles but the general public had no idea who the character was until they saw the movie. Spiderman has been plastered all over our culture for decades and is the most recognizable Marvel character by far. Perhaps only Batman and Superman (DC characters) are as well known. So it is with a handicap that Iron man joins Spiderman in the $300 mil club. Its a nice feeling for those of us who have been fans from day one. ;D

The main thing is that I'm happy for Iron Man fans who've been blessed with a movie that seems to do justice to their man. Unlike, say, grumpy Hulk fans. (Ferrigno rules!)
$300 million? That's pretty sweet.
I'll be looking forward to the sequel, but obviously, only if Robert Downey Jr is reprising his role. (Hey, nothing is ever a guarantee in the movie business, right?)
(I have zero interest in another Spider-man movie, unless there's a new creative team in charge. )

I mean there aren't many superhero franchises that have made it to number IV that didn't end up damaging the series irreparably. Batman IV, Superman IV. I rest my case. :-)

Sony Targetting May 2011 for SPIDER-MAN 4 By: Jarrod Sarafin Date: Saturday, June 21, 2008 Source: Los Angeles Times
Director Sam Raimi and leading stars Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst said they would prefer a few years off before jumping back into the Spider-Man franchise and it seems that's exactly what Sony and Columbia Pictures is planning to do. There have been reports these past few weeks that Raimi wouldn't mind coming back to the comic character after all and now the Los Angeles Times is reporting that producer Laura Ziskin has told them that Sony is targetting a May 2011 release date for Spider-Man 4.
While neither Raimi or Maguire are confirmed to be signed for this fourth installment, the timing means they would have that asked-for break between films so it's possible that all parties may be back after all.
If the planned release date is true, than Spider-Man 4 will be hitting theaters the same time as The First Avenger: Captain America and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II.

Sigh...the thing is, Sam Raimi has made Spider-man his own now, so there would likely be some outcry from fans if he were to jump ship.
(I have no beef with Tobey Maguire or Kirsten Dunst, btw.)

That is an unavoidable fact. Unless something happens to change things in the next couple of years. Maquire okay. Dunst, nice girl but she aint Mary Jane. Well not the MJ I've always imagined at any rate. Now Bryce Dallas Howard was startlingly close to Gwen Stacy. No issues there. Personality etc was right on.

Well, call me sad or weird, but Nicholas Hammond will always be Peter Parker in my mind. I thought his Spidey costume was snazzy, too...even with the web-shooters worn on the outside. ...and while I was Googling, I found out that this long-forgotten TV series is actually available on DVD! Okay, we're not talking awesome remastered picture and sound. It appears to be the original video source put straight onto DVD. Don't know anything about the seller, but I do wonder how this person managed to get a hold of all the episodes. The DVD set is "not commercially available." Heh, no kidding. I'm nervous about trying to link an image from there, so if anyone wants to take a look at this DVD, check it out for yourself: www.ioffer.com/i/34251256?store=1As for Kirsten Dunst...she's all right, but I'm kind of indifferent to her as well. My mental picture of Mary Jane is vague at best.

I watched the Spiderman series too. At the time I loved it. Now with 3 big budget movies under my belt I get the feeling that watching the dvds might be kind of difficult but I'd love to try. :-)
